First Week in London

First Photo for Blog

Hey guys, my name is Lisa. I am 22 years old from Drexel University pursuing a degree in nursing. It wasn’t easy for me to just decide to study abroad. The nursing program has a strict curriculum, but that did not stop me from coming to this beautiful city. It has always been my dream to study abroad in London. Every time I saw anything that reminds me of London my heart would race. Many sacrifices had to be made, but every time I look out my bedroom window I reassure myself that it was the best decision of my life. Regardless of your major, studying abroad is possible. When is the next time you can live in another country for a semester? Think about it.

The picture above was taken on March 28, 2016. The poster behind me motivated me to keep striving to work hard. Every time I felt like I hit rock bottom. I would just stare at this poster to remind myself that I can someday achieve this. Now that I am here, it feels unreal. There is so much to explore and can’t wait to see where this journey will take me. My adventure awaits here! Where would yours be?

In Philadelphia, I jaywalk all the time. I have no patience. Here in London everyone drives on the opposite side of the street. Therefore, following the sign on the ground is important. Don’t make the same mistake I did by going on a red light and getting honked at by incoming cars. I almost collided with a bicycle once too. Now I stop at every intersection and look left or right. Overall, I am enjoying my stay at South Kensington.
